Programming / JSON get_num validation

How does GET_NUM(KEY$,validation) work if validation is on?

Do you get an ERROR 11 for a missing key?

Just a quick note for those working with Claude and PxPlus:

We've set up a Model Context Protocol server (MCP) via Context7, used purely as a documentation source for Claude Code in VS Code.
It contains the full PxPlus manual and related notes, cleanly structured and easy to query.

Claude uses the MCP to look up syntax, commands, and language behavior during code generation. We don't compile or run any code from the MCP, it's strictly a read-only knowledge base for the AI.

Creating a Context7 account is free, and adding the MCP to Claude is easy using their CLI:

claude mcp add --transport http context7 https://mcp.context7.com/mcp --header "CONTEXT7_API_KEY: YOUR_API_KEY"

If anyone's exploring similar setups or wants help getting started, feel free to reach out.

Registration ran fine.

Has the program started? It's been about 1/2 hour since scheduled start, and still in the waiting room.

Tom,

It has been my experience in the past that if there is a substantial work load and many clients attaching to the "server" you will see a reduction of performance as a "workstation" (PC with Windows 11) just doesn't have the configuration (buffers, CPUs) to share the processes. I don't know how many clients you will be throwing at the server, but my suggestion is spend the extra money and get a real server with either xeons or rizen processors and use a server OS such as Windows Server 2025 as 2023 has already reached it's end of support.

The client (WindX) is the client. The server (Linux, Unix, Windows, etc.) is the server. One side of the client-server pair can talk with the other side, regardless of the mix.

Caveat: If you have system calls to one type of server (e.g., Linux), they may need to be modified or changed to retrieve the desired information from another server (e.g., Windows).

Registration and Setup / Re: User slots

QuoteIf I have a +20 and -20, is that the *same* user slot.

Yes it means they are both using the same user slot. The +20 session acquired the user slot, the -20 session is using the user slot acquired by the first. This is because they are coming from the same client.

QuoteIf they initiate 2 sessions does this burn off one or 2 slots?

It should use up one user slot since it is the same client.

Running a WindX host/server does not require a Windows Server OS and can be run from Win 11 no problem.

Registration and Setup / Moving PvxPlus
Last post by Tom Anderson - October 13, 2025, 08:13:56 PM
I have a situation where an existing PvxPlus installation is running on Server 2019 and Windx clients to connect to the server.

Customer is presently running in a local domain with all machines as members of the domain. This will be changed to a peer to peer network. The server machine will be replaced with a Windows 11 machine.

Is it possible to move PVXPlus to a Windows 11 machine and still use Windx to access the programs?

Thanks!

Tom

Thin Client/WindX / Re: VIEWER print preview - set...
Last post by Patrick Denny - October 13, 2025, 08:08:04 PM
Thanks for the reply, but...

I setup the START_UP program, and it is being executed, but the VIEWER window still suffers from "connection dropped" issues after so long. I had another window open for editing code which was left unattended for about 1.5 hours and that window remained "alive" while 2 other VIEWER windows "crashed" when I switched back to them.

Is there something else or more I could do to prevent the VIEWER sessions from crashing?
Is a setting of '1' the appropriate value to be using?

Obviously there is "inactivity" on the VIEWER connection.  Is there something more that could be done to "create activity", if that makes sense or is possible?
