Hello All,

My company wants us to start using GIT for Development.  From what I understand I need to save/convert my pxplus programs to a text files in order to use GIT.  I've read about a few way to do this.
I'm wondering if there is a best practice or a quick way to do it.
Also if anyone is doing this do you include Line Numbers or No Line Numbers?

Thanks

Jerry

Hi Jerry

I'd suggest you take a look at the VScode extension for PxPlus coding. Visual Studio Code has all the bells and whistles to use Git, it is directly integrated in the code editor.

While the VScode extension allows you to work on tokenized programs, using a version control tool would require you to convert all your source code to text-based programs

You can do this using the -lst (tokenized > text) and the -cpl (text > tokenized) command line options on the pxplus interpreter -- most likely in some kind of batch process. Converting to text would happen once, to load your app in the Git repository. Converting back to binary/tokenized would only happen when you want to release a new version of your application to your customers.

Hope this helps
