« Last post by cbudney on September 23, 2021, 05:19:45 PM »
Hello everyone!

Has anyone used any of the newer Android based RF Bar Code Scanners to connect into a linux based system via telnet?

Thanks in advance!

Just to let you know -- we fixed the client display on demosite.pvxplus.com  We had changed the fields from text only in the demo to buttons and forgot to update their contents.   We were using the screen to demo the automatic generation of hyperlink buttons so you could click the email address, phone number or website and your smartphone would handle the request to send mail, place a phone call, or visit the site.

Text fields auto-update in Nomads/iNomads whereas button text has to be manually refreshed.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

We had not noticed the fields did not update -- thanks for letting us know we will get that fixed.

As for the testdrive site, that page simply requests your email address so it can send you a true link to the demo application.  Once you get the email and click on the link it contains the system will create a instance of the sample application for you to play with.  We don't immediately create the test drive sites until the email is confirmed to avoid spammers and such.

On the https://demosite.pvxplus.com site, if you click on a customer to bring up the customer's details, then use the arrow/navigation keys to scroll through other customer records, the "email", "phone", and "website" info  -  they do not refresh.

Also, the  https://testdrive.pvxplus.com  link - it looks like it's being worked on?

We have two demo sites up and running:

  • The Mobile demo based on iNomads https://demosite.pvxplus.com
This site provides a sample mobile application targeted for use on smartphones.  It was developed using iNomads and showcases what can be done using a number of the PxPlus/Nomads tools and facilities including things such as access to charts, smart lists, and even Google Maps.

  • The Webster+ Demo https://testdrive.pvxplus.com
This site allows you to sign up to obtain access to a sample application built using our new Webster+ web development toolkit.  The application here provides a typical order entry system all built using Webster.  The site is fully responsive and uses the latest in HTML 5 technology.

The Webster+ demo site not only allows you to fully interact with the application and its setup, but you can use the Webster inspector to have a look at the underlying code used to develop the application.

There is a section on this forum dedicated to Webster+ where you can find links to a number of videos about Webster plus along with details on the demonstration application.  https://forum1.pvxplus.com/index.php?board=21.0

Hopefully you will find these two sites useful and provide you some ideas of what you can accomplish in terms of Web applications using PxPlus.

Nomads / Enter Key in Grid
« Last post by James Zukowski on September 16, 2021, 05:21:18 PM »
I've got a grid with all cells locked except for 2 non-adjacent columns. If I change a value and Tab out, it moves to the next cell. If I don't change the value and Tab or Enter, it moves to the next cell. But if I change a value and Enter out, it ALWAYS moves to the next control, not the next cell in the grid. I've set the 'TabMode and 'EnterMode properties' values to everything, but it's still the same.
Also, %Nomads'Enter_Tab=1.
Am I missing something? I'd like the Enter on a changed cell in a grid to work the same as a Tab.
Nomads / Key names size limit
« Last post by St├ęphane Devouard on September 16, 2021, 08:35:26 AM »

I haven't found any mention of a limitation in size for a key name

Yet, the key definition dialog in the DD maintenance tool imposes a 24-char size limit to the key name entered.

Having got some training in SQL, I know that in most DB systems, primary key constraints & index names must be unique throughout a database, so I now name primary keys as 'PK_<table name>', alternate indexes as 'IX_<table name>_<sorting>' -- not to mention table names often start with a 2-4 prefix representing the sub-application module ;-)

So... Is the 24 char limit by design or are keynames allowed to be larger ?
