Title: Firewall changes to allow Port 4093

Hello Forum :

        In order to allow remote access to Simple Client/Server, do we have to open up both TCP Port 4093 and UDP Port 4093?
        Also, will the firewall have to forward the connections to the inside server that has the Simple C/S daemon waiting?
        Our set-up is Pxplus 15.10 running on CentOS Linux 5.10.

Hi Bill,

You should only need to allow incoming TCP connections on port 4093 on the machine where you are running *plus\cs\host.

One of the features of the Simple Client/Server is that it only needs the one port. By default it uses 4093 which is registered by ICANN to PxPlus so nothing else should be using that port.

Just to clarify, if your setup has a external router that comes between your server and the Internet, and you want to access the Simple CS from the outside via the Internet; you will likely need to have the router forward any incoming requests on TCP port 4093 to your servers port 4093 and then on your server open port 4093 for incoming requests.

Most routers have this functionality built in, usually called something like 'Virtual Server" or "Port Forwarding"
