Most Common Setup
« on: October 15, 2019, 10:03:39 AM »
Hello List,

I have a question re: Common setup environments for Non-Web pxplus.
are people running the pxplus "application server" on a linux machine and then running windx to connect to that "Application Server"
i'm just curious what is the most common setup out there.

we are running rdp to a windows server...(and i dont think that is what most developers are doing)

thanks

jeff

Hello Jeff,
I can't comment on what most developers are doing, but I've used WindX for most of my career.  From NTHost, to Application Server, to PxPlus Client-Server on multiple host OSes.  I now primarily use and recommend using the encrypted PxPlus CS with TLS 1.2 (or better) for non-web-browser based applications.

Best Regards,

Jeffrey

From what we know most of our clients use the PxPlus Simple CS to connect to a Windows server however some do use RDP depending on their needs.

Simple CS is generally easier to setup, uses less server resources, and is less expensive than the Windows Terminal Server or Citrix plus allows easier access and integration with the applications and files on the end-users workstation.

Another advantage with Simple CS is that the server is Host agnostic -- that is the workstation setup is the same regardless of the type of host (Windows, Linux, AIX, or MAC).
