We use the Wavelink telnet client and do character based screens. There are other telnet clients available also. We do not use WindX.

WindX itself is not going to run "ON" any handheld device since they are not running Windows.

A few possible options:

  • Use RDP to connect to a Windows server.  There is a free Windows RDP client for most any mobile device on the market.  I use RDP from both my iPad and Android phone all the time.
  • Consider using iNomads instead of WindX.  If your application is truly GUI  it should be able to run under iNomads.
  • For the processing you require on the mobile devices create a few web screens and use the PxPlus Web Server (or Apache) to serve them up.

If by chance your application is textual, then you should be able to use most any telnet/ssh emulator on your mobile device to access and run your application.

Hi Mike we do run RDP right now...I had heard that RDP would no longer be supported on Windows Mobile that is why I was looking at alternatives...Inomads is what we are leaning towards. I was just seeing if there were any other options that did not require a web server...thank you...this has been very helpful.

Have you looked at a VNC application for Windows Mobile?  It may not be as 'clean' an interface as RDP but may provide you what you want plus there should be more options for VNC clients available.

While iNomads might be a possibility, it relies on 'current' HTML standards and if you are using older Windows Mobile devices they may not work 100%.  You would need to find out how current a browser exists on the device.
