When was READ (<filename>) added to PVXPlus?

When was the functionality added to specify a filename (rather than a channel) to a READ() statement?  For example: READ ("/MyDataFile",key="ABC")

I use this quite a bit in command mode since it's easier than opening a channel, but I don't want to add it to our programs without knowing which version it was added, since we have some older clients that might not support it.

That functionality was added in 2010 with Version 9 of PxPlus.  Some newer capabilities were added with PxPlus 2019 for the IOL and FIN functons.

Hopefully you don't still have any clients using that old a version of PxPlus.
